Crocodile Sanctuary

FPL – Turkey Point Powerplant – Miami Dade

Here we constructed 9 Yearling Refugia and a 7 acre Nesting Habitat in FPL’s Everglades Mitigation Bank for a crocodile sanctuary. We excavated per lines and grades on engineering plans, blended existing soils with imported fill for a better habitat for the animals. This project was filled with extremely environmentally sensitive work hosting extensive environmental monitoring and oversight from multiple agencies. We went about our work smoothly, keeping the wildlife’s best interests in mind. Today, the Sanctuary is successful in all it’s endeavors towards protecting the species.

Blue Goose Construction and the Environment

Throughout our history, BGC has provided a multitude of services to the commercial, agricultural (bluegoosegrowers.com), marine and governmental markets and those services require us to be constantly vigilant and conscious of the environmental impacts of our work.

We have an extensive Project Portfolio involving work for several Water Management Districts and Power Generation Facilities where the project scope covers work directly in or interfacing with wildlife sanctuaries, canals and / or basins that lead to the Saint Lucie River, Saint John’s River, the Florida Everglades and Lake Okeechobee as well as the Atlantic Ocean.

BGC and our parent organization takes great pride in our environmental record and our commitment to the environment very seriously. We are experienced in the use, installation and control of sediment barriers, wetland buffers, turbidity controls, Stormwater Management Controls, Air Quality and Noise Controls, as well as Wildlife and Aviary Protection Controls .

We have a proven record of success in preserving the waterway conditions and protecting the aquatic life and wildlife indigenous to the work areas. BGC takes great care and precaution with our waterway works and protecting the environment through planning and controls. We plan and conduct our operations so as to avoid pollution or siltation of water bodies or to interfere with indigenous wildlife, its’ mating and germenation cycles as well as harvesting cycles for work we do in the agricultural marketplace.

Community Outreach

As a company, we are very centered around our community and take part in a number of projects and events benefiting and supporting our surrounding neighborhoods. You can often see Blue Gooses’ name on projects developing native ecosystems and partaking in events promoting causes we support.

Since the State of Florida has a reciprocity clause, our licensing is transferable among the jurisdictions of the state therefore negating licensing issues within each jurisdiction. At BGC, we hold ourselves to high standards of business ethics therefore we always research and obtain the proper licensing and permitting for the work we do. Finally, as a result of our sound work history, our safety record, and our financial strength, BGC has the capability of obtaining bond limits to $20,000,000.

FPL-St.Lucie-Subcontractor to UESI

Often at jobs, we are asked to remove what is already in place an replace it with updated and/or fresh material. Such was the case with the Underwater Engineering Services Inc. in St. Lucie. Here, we dredged contaminated areas and excavated a bench in the existing levees. We removed riprap and excavated a subsurface drainage layer in preparation of slopes according to the lines and grades set in the plans and specifications. Two thirds of this slope were underwater a canal bottom 40 feet wide and over 25 feet deep. We were successful with the use of our recently acquired iconic long reach excavators equipped with GPA systems to accomplish our job within a six-tenth of a foot tolerance.

Safety at Blue Goose Construction

BGC is firmly committed to the safety of our employees. We have a comprehensive safety program which guides all of our safety endeavors.
